Intrusion Detection/Prevention Information

Home

This year's school start up was a real challenge in terms of problems with workstations/servers not behaving properly or at worst case bringing down an entire network which has generated many phone calls to NewNet 66 for help. Viruses, Worms, Trojans, and more importantly, Spyware , have been the culprit most of the time. The challenge is finding the bad guy and removing it from the network.

NewNet 66 has been implementing an Evaluation TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention device at many of our schools who have had problems. In every case a lot of "bad stuff" has been detected, blocked, and reported on so that the school's technical staff can act and remove the culprit.

We have put together case studies representing live data pulled from the NewNet 66 TippingPoint SMS server which manages TippingPoint units located at many of our schools. This information will help those of us who are not familiar with Intrusion Detection and Prevention understand the concept and see real data that impacts school networks adversely.
